A fanlisting is a website where fans of a certain subject can join and proclaim there love for a subject, while meeting other fans of that same subject. It's pretty self-explanatory, really.
Mac Hall was a web comic that began in November of 2000 by Ian McConville, who was later joined by Matt Boyd. The comic is based on real life misadventures, which only serves to enhance the humor. It takes place in Bowling Green State University. The main characters, which are the ones featured on the layout, respectively, are (taken from the website):
Drew: He has discovered that computer science is like sewer repair: It pays so well because nobody really wants to do it. Facing down a future of endlessly trudging through databases, Drew exists in a state of permanent pissed-offedness, a bubbling volcano of cynicism an free-floating hostility.
Matt: As an aspiring journalist, Matt's job is to explain the world. And he'd be happy to, if any of it made the least bit of sense to him. Matt wanders around the university in a bewildered haze, and is prone to the occasional freak-out if the cards seem stacked against him.
JM: A serene, mellow person with a dry sense of humor, JM is the closest thing Mac Hall has to an official philosopher. He's usually Ian's partner on any crazy schemes, mostly because he wants to see what happens afterward.
Ian: The hub of the insanity-wheel that is Mac Hall, Ian's the eclectic artist-type. He's been known stay silent for hours, then suddenly sprint down down the hall screaming "I LIKE MITTENS!" or something equally crazy. Considers slacking to be high art. Unfortunately, he's currently holding down a crappy summer night job at Big K-mart.
Micah: He's a bit of a computer addict, and his chronically short attention span keeps him from getting much work done. But once you get him away from the Everquest, he's quite a smooth operator.
Helen: In a comic that's mostly about guys and the dumb stuff guys do, a female character managed to slip in. How'd that happen? We're as puzzled as you are, folks.
Mike: Helen's closest platonic friend. Mike pretty much lives in his own world, and spends all his time in the university's sound studio. He's been known to possess tremendous personal magnetism, but only when he's not trying.
In my opinion, Mac Hall is one of the funniest, if not THE funniest, web comic out there. It has something for everyone, whether they be looking for a comic about gaming, relationships, or just plain random stuff.
Shirtless O'Clock was started by me, Rachel. As stated above, I love the comic. The name of the fanlisting comes from two strips in the comic, namely: this one and this one.
